Memories

I've seen this on several blogs, and hopefully as I make my way down my list in Google reader I'll eventually leave a memory comment on everyone's blog....

Here's how you do it-

Aaaah Nuts!!!

So for a long time now we've been fairly certain that Ryker is allergic to peanuts. When he was fairly young, and tried some peanut candy, he started to cough and weez, and finally threw everything up. Ever since then (at the doctors advice), we've never given him any sort of peanut product. The doctor told us then, that they usually don't do allergy testing in children until they're at least 5. Ryker knows he can't have peanut butter, and he tells people that all the time. Well....a few weeks ago, Canyon decided to make himself a PB&J. Ryker was SO sweet, and decided to make one for me. Didn't think much of it until a half hour or so later, and he eye was about swollen shut with hives all over it. The only thing I could think was that he rubbed some of the peanut butter on his eye. We finally decided whether he was 5 or not we needed to get him tested for allergies. Today was that day!! Since Ryker also has asthma, they did some lung testing too. Here's a few pics of our day.....

Here's my poor babies back after they got him all cleaned up. Needless to say...he was allergic to EVERYTHING they tested him for. All sorts of grass, trees, weeds, mold, and of course nuts. The bottom two rows are where they tested for nuts, and the biggest hive in the bottom left corner is the peanut one. The nurse even wiped the oil off shortly after she started the test because it was already swelling up. I don't want to image how much bigger it would have gotten had she left the oil on the entire time. We got a prescription for the EpiPen in case he ever were to eat anything he's allergic to. The thought of having to use it terrifies me!!! Anyway....we now have to give him Singular daily, and we go back in a couple of weeks to get started on a Asthma Therapy plan. At least we know now what he can and can't eat. So PLEASE if you're ever around Ryker...DON"T let him eat nuts!!!!
